Dreams and Cloudscapes, 2023
My current body of work relates to the dream-like state I allow myself to shift into at times during the day. With broad sweeps of motion, my body directs the paint on the surface of transparent plexiglass boards. Using brushes and my fingers, my starting point is the visualization of individual clouds, layers of mists and morning fog. As I layer colors and textures on both sides, I memorialize the performance of my body that directs my hands.
My color palette is influenced by my dreams. At night, abstractions of a dark sky and deep swirling waves embody heavy tumultuous emotions and repetitive roadblocks. Daydreams bring in sweeter moments. I am the center of a feminine force, controlling the individual moments of painting in sensual drips, textures and lines - utilizing the colors of lilacs, sherbets, pastel blues and pinks which form a layered "dream web".
